Jakarta, 27 Mei 2024 – PT Indolakto, a subsidiary of PT Indofood CBP Sukses Makmur Tbk (“ICBP”) through its brand Indomilk, is bringing back the Indomilk Coffeepreneur Workshop for its third year. The workshop, running from May to October 2024, will be held in 11 cities. The kick-off event took place on Monday (27/5) at Titik Temu Café, SCBD Jakarta. This workshop aims to provide training and education for coffee entrepreneurs, including R&D teams, head baristas, and baristas, encouraging them to explore and create various coffee and milk-based beverages. This program demonstrates Indomilk’s commitment to supporting coffeepreneurs in building sustainable coffee-focused businesses that align with current trends and consumer tastes.
According to Statista, the popularity of coffee has continued to increase in recent years, driven by the expansion of coffee shop culture and changing consumption patterns among the young generation. With increasing purchasing power and exposure to global coffee trends, Indonesia’s youth are now embracing the fourth wave of coffee culture. Quality local coffee and iced milk-based coffee beverages in a variety of flavors tailored to local tastes are trending. Milk-based coffee beverages such as cappuccino, latte, and iced brown sugar coffee remains the favorite among consumers in Indonesia.
Prita Utami, Trade Marketing Food Service Manager of PT Indolakto, stated, “Consumers’ taste preferences and coffee trends are constantly changing. Through the Indomilk Coffeepreneur program, we aim to consistently educate coffeepreneurs, including baristas, to create and craft new, inspiring beverages loved by young people, especially milk-based ones. Every beverage has its unique character, and it should be paired with the right type of milk to enhance that character. Indomilk’s range of products, including fresh milk, UHT milk, evaporated milk, and sweetened condensed milk, are ideal for coffeepreneurs to start creating.”
Having been present in Indonesia for more than 50 years, Indomilk continues to innovate by offering high-quality dairy products that inspire F&B businesses in their menu creations. Among these choices, Indomilk Good Milk Fresh Milk is perfect for specialty coffees such as lattes or even cappuccinos, while Indomilk Good Milk UHT Full Cream is ideal for cold coffee beverages. Additionally, evaporated milk and Tiga Sapi condensed milk are commonly used in traditional coffee mixes. All Indomilk products are certified food-safe and internationally recognized, ensuring the stability of taste, texture, and quality in coffee beverages.
In the 2024, the Indomilk Coffeepreneur program will feature experts from the coffee industry, including Hendri Kurniawan, a World Certified Coffee Judge, and Restu Sadam, a professional barista and first-place winner of the Indonesia Latte Art Champion 2019 & 2021. They will share their expertise with coffeepreneurs through various thematic workshop sessions.
“The vision from the Indomilk Coffeepreneur program is intriguing and essential for coffee entrepreneurs, especially those starting out. Not just grinding coffee beans, but understanding the features of milk is crucial in crafting beverages, as milk plays a significant role in enhancing the character of a drink. This is the first step for coffeepreneurs to boost their coffee business and build a unique identity in the eyes of their consumers,” explained Hendri Kurniawan.
"It cannot be denied that the presentation of coffee also influences the image of a barista and the coffee shop they work in. Latte art not only adds aesthetic value to coffee drinks but reflects the barista's dedication and passion for excellence. Quality milk products that froth easily and produce smooth, silky foam are essential for creating latte art. Indomilk Good Milk Fresh Milk meets these criteria,” said Restu Sadam.
To reach more coffeepreneurs in various corners of Indonesia and provide valuable education for the growth of their coffee business, Indomilk Coffeepreneur workshops will be held in 11 cities: Jakarta, Cirebon, Semarang, Solo, Surabaya, Malang, Medan, Pekanbaru, Balikpapan Makassar and Bekasi.
"Since its inception in 2022, Indomilk Coffeepreneur has reached approximately 600 coffeepreneurs and baristas. This year, by expanding to more cities, we aim to educate and train over 700 coffeepreneurs and baristas on coffee and milk. We hope this program continues to support coffeepreneurs in serving the best coffee to consumers, ensuring their businesses can grow and remain sustainable," concluded Prita.
