Together with experts, SUN created the Lahap Makan Movement Method (GLM) so that mothers can master the proper way to feed their babies complementary foods.
Jakarta, February 18, 2025 – Recognizing mothers' concerns about GTM (Gerakan Tutup Mulut), a condition where children refuse to eat, SUN, the largest brand of complementary foods from PT Indofood CBP Sukses Makmur Tbk (ICBP), introduces the GLM Method, created in collaboration with Dr. Dimple Nagrani, Sp.A, BMedSc, to help mothers ensure their children eat heartily and receive adequate nutrition.
According to Dr. Dimple Nagrani, Sp.A, BmedSc, GTM is generally triggered by three main interrelated factors: feeding times, age-appropriate variety and texture, and feeding methods. "To overcome GTM, parents need to master three important methods to ensure their children eat well. First, make sure your child is hungry by allowing a 2-3 hour break before feeding and ensuring they are not sleepy. Second, vary the flavors and types of food according to the child's nutritional needs, and ensure that the texture of the food is appropriate for their age. Third, parents need to pay attention to the proper feeding method, such as ensuring the correct sitting position during meals. The habit of feeding while carrying the child should be avoided because the child's back and neck must be upright. Additionally, we need to minimize distractions so that children can recognize their food and learn to chew and swallow properly," he explained during the launch of the 3 GLM Methods at The Gallery Cibis Park, Jakarta.
Stephanie Lay, Head of Marketing for Indofood Nutrition and Special Foods Division, explained, "Based on our experience, many mothers choose SUN porridge because of its texture and variety of flavors that children love, so they eat heartily. This encourages us to continue our commitment to meeting children's nutritional needs through SUN products that are nutritionally complete, as well as providing education on how to overcome GTM with the Lahap Makan Movement Method or GLM. We hope that this method can encourage mothers to overcome GTM problems in children, so that children get adequate nutrition and avoid eating problems that could affect their growth and development."
As SUN Brand Ambassadors, celebrity couple Alyssa Soebandono and Dude Harlino also shared their experiences, saying, "We realize that every child is unique, so there is always something new to learn, including when dealing with GTM children. We want to be friends with mothers who want to make their children eat more heartily through the 3 GLM methods. My three children are ‘SUN Kids’ because the flavors suit their tastes. SUN porridge is also very easy to create into various delicious and nutritious Indonesian recipes."
On this occasion, Chef Yulita Intan Sari also shared tips on preparing complementary foods: "It is very important to prepare complementary foods that are not only tasty, but also have the right texture. To support GLM, I created a Chicken Opor Porridge menu inspired by SUN, with a thick and smooth texture suitable for children aged 6-8 months, as well as Corn Lemet, which is dense and soft for children aged 9-12 months. Both menus are made using SUN products that can be combined with local ingredients, resulting in a delicious taste that encourages children to eat heartily."
SUN, as the No. 1 baby porridge in Indonesia that has been trusted by mothers for more than 30 years, continues to present practical, safe, and nutritious complementary food products enriched with Esenutri: high in iron and omega 3 & 6 to help babies eat more heartily. SUN products are also certified by BPOM and comply with The Codex Alimentarius Commission, the international standard for food safety, ensuring that SUN products are safe for babies, free from preservatives and artificial flavors, so mothers can feel more at ease when feeding their babies.
"With the Lahap Makan Movement, SUN hopes to help mothers in Indonesia overcome the challenges of GTM with methods that are easier to understand and practice. This movement will be introduced on a large scale to over 2,000 health posts across Indonesia," concluded Stephanie.
